Chapter Four:
Inuyasha, are ye mad!? Kaede demanded stepping in front of him. Ye broke the Shikon Jewel! The half-demon walked past the old woman. He grabbed me by the arm and put it around his shoulders. He half-carried, half-dragged me back toward the village. Kaede and the villagers followed after. When we reached the gates, I saw Siari with her mother.
Lady Anayame! She cried.
Dont. Just stay there. I said, as Inuyasha dragged me back to Kaedes hut. When we got inside, he threw me into the Priestess work table. I whimpered as I fell. I brought my arms up over my head as pots and herbs fell on me, the table tipped over and landed on my legs.
Ah! I cried out, pain in every limb and muscle.
Who are you? Tell me now before I kill you! Inuyasha demanded. Why did you have the jewel and why do you reek of the woman who killed me?! He came after me. Suddenly, Inuyashas neck was ringed by prayer beads.
Quickly! Say a spell! Kaede told me.
A spell? I asked.
Mutter a word or something to make stop his approach! Kaede explained.
Sit! I said. The prayer beads around his neck began to glow. He fell hard on the floor in Kaedes hut. I freed myself from my prison beneath the table. I was tired of being hurt and bullied. I was tired of being pushed around. He went to get up. I stood before him, my fists clenched tightly and my eyes narrowed. He stood before me, growling in his chest. Every aspect of my body hurt, but right now, I was too angry to care.
Im not some little girl you can bully. I walked toward him, he backed up. Sit! I said, he fell hard again.
I dont know who the hell you think you are pushing me around like that. I growled. He got up and backed up until we were outside of Kaedes hut. Sit! He fell again.
Enough already! Inuyasha yelled.
I dont know why I had the Jewel or why I smell like Kikyo. I said. Sit! He fell with a groan and slowly got to his feet again. Siari was watching from her place next to Kaede. The priestess shook her head in amazement.
Lady Anayame is pretty angry, isnt she? Siari ventured. I turned to walk back toward the hut and the blackness Id been fighting was winning. I fell backward, caught involuntarily, Im sure by Inuyasha.
Get her inside, Inuyasha and dont argue. I heard Kaede say, though her voice was very far away. Shes lost too much blood, we must hurry and mend those wounds before she dies.
Why? She doesnt belong here. Just let her die. Inuyasha said.
In case ye hadnt noticed, Inuyasha, Anayame resembles my sister a great deal; not only in look but in power as well. Ye will need her if ye wish to restore the jewel ye broke. She is the only one that can see the shards. Kaede told him. I listened to the conversation half-conscious.
Im not working with some girl that smells like Kikyo. Inuyasha grumped. Kaede helped him lay me down on a mat. At least he wasnt throwing me around anymore.
Ye havent got a choice, do ye? Kaede snapped. Inuyasha stopped walking and sighed. Through half-closed eyes, I saw him look at me. He turned and walked outside. I saw Siari move out of his way before easing herself into the hut. She watched him leave.
Siari, fetch me some water, please. The old woman said. I slipped into unconsciousness then and felt like I could sleep for days.
